Dry Eye
Dry eye or ocular discomfort is among one of the most common patient complaints presented to the office. Unfortunately, there is no single effective therapy since there is no single reason for the eyes to feel dry in the first place. We do have an excellent list of recommended over-the-counter lubricating eye drops here. The company Oyster Point in 2021 launched an edutainment website called DRYEYELAND.COM aimed at healthcare professionals designed to show how complex the ocular surface is and why dry eye is so hard to treat. The site does serve as an excellent primer for understanding the different components to dry eye disease though it does underestimate the utility of artificial tears and anti-inflammatory treatments in our opinion.
