Procedures such as cataract surgery and pterygium excision are performed at dedicated surgical facilities.

Surgery Expectations

  • Please review your "Rights of Patients"

  • Do not eat or drink for 8 hours prior to surgery except for a few sips of water for your usual morning medications

  • Check-in one hour prior to your procedure time

  • Expect your total stay to be at least 2 hours

  • You will require a driver for after the procedure

Preoperative clearance is not required.  However, for patients that have a cardiac pacemaker then a recent preoperative device interrogation report is required.

Fasting guidelines prior to surgery at Hoag Hospital SurgiCare

  • Absolutely no solid food 8 hours prior to surgery

 

Surgery Expectations

  • Check-in 75 min prior to your procedure time

    • Example: For a 1pm surgery start time, you must arrive at the Surgery Center prior to 11:45am.

  • Expect your total stay to be at least 2 hours

  • You will require a driver for after the procedure

Preoperative testing is required for select patients.​
